How Quin builds a morning brief from Gmail

A rep's inbox doesn't sort itself by importance. A hot prospect who replied at 11pm sits in the same list as a newsletter and an internal thread, and reading top to bottom means treating all three the same way until you're deep enough in to tell the difference.

What a full inbox doesn't tell you at a glance

  • Which reply came from a deal that's close to closing, buried among everything else that came in overnight.
  • Which prospect has gone quiet longer than they should have, easy to lose track of across dozens of active conversations.
  • Whether anything urgent needs an answer before the first call of the day.
  • What's routine enough to leave for later, so it's not competing for attention with what isn't.

How Quin builds the brief from Gmail

Each morning, Quin can put together a short brief using what's in Gmail and, where connected, the CRM: which threads need a reply first, which deals look like they're stalling, and what's safe to leave until later. It's ready before the inbox is even opened, sorted by what matters most, not by what arrived most recently.

Say three prospects reply overnight. One confirms a contract is signed, one asks a pricing question that's holding up a decision, and one is a routine scheduling note. Reading top to bottom by arrival time, you might not get to the pricing question until third, after the contract confirmation and the scheduling note. In a brief sorted by urgency to the deal, it's the first thing flagged.

The cost of missing that order isn't usually dramatic. It's a reply that goes out four hours later than it needed to, on a deal where a competitor's rep answered in twenty minutes. Multiplied across a full roster of active deals, a handful of those delays a week adds up to conversations that stall for no reason other than the order things got read in.

Best practices for setting this up

  • Connect the CRM alongside Gmail, so the brief can prioritize by deal stage, not just by who emailed.
  • Decide how much the brief should show. Some reps want every open thread listed; others just want what's flagged as urgent.
  • Adjust the timing to match when your day starts, not a fixed time that doesn't fit your schedule.
  • Revisit the format after a week or two, once you've seen what it catches and what it misses.

Setting it up

Connect Gmail under Settings, then Integrations, and set up the daily brief workflow to run before your day starts. From there, the inbox arrives already sorted by what matters most, not just by what came in last.
