Jira
Connect Jira to Quin to automatically create issues from meeting notes, track project work, and manage tickets without leaving your conversation.
Jira integration lets Quin create, update, and search issues and projects directly from your meetings and chats. When action items come up during a call, Quin can turn them into tracked Jira issues automatically.
You can also ask Quin questions about your Jira projects at any time, such as checking the status of an issue or finding open tickets assigned to a teammate.
Before you begin
Connect your calendar so Quin can join meetings and identify action items. You'll also need an active Jira account with permission to create and edit issues in the projects you want Quin to access.
How to set it up
- Go to Settings > Integrations.
- Find Jira in the list of available integrations and select Connect.
- Log in to your Jira account when prompted and authorize access.
- Once connected, Jira will appear with a Connected status.
- (Optional) Add a guideline telling Quin when to create Jira issues. Guidelines are instructions that tell Quin how to process your meetings, like "Create a Jira issue for any bug mentioned in the call."
What to expect
After connecting Jira, Quin can create issues during or after your meetings based on what was discussed, and you can ask Quin to search for, retrieve, or update issues and projects at any time. New issues include a title, description, and assignee when that information is available from the conversation. Quin can also work with file attachments on issues, adding, downloading, or removing them as needed. Changes made through Quin appear in Jira right away, so your team sees updates without any manual entry.
How it works
During a meeting, Quin listens for action items that sound like tasks, bugs, or feature requests. If your guidelines tell Quin to create issues for these, Quin creates them in the project you specify, using details from the conversation to fill in the title and description. You can also ask Quin directly, such as "Create a Jira issue for the login bug we just discussed" or "What's the status of ENG-123?"
Troubleshooting
Quin isn't creating Jira issues from meetings
- Check that Jira is still connected in Integrations
- Make sure you have a guideline telling Quin when to create issues
- Confirm Quin has permission to create issues in the target project
- Try asking Quin directly to create the issue instead of waiting for it to happen automatically
Quin can't find an issue or project
- Double check the issue key is correct, for example ENG-123
- Confirm the project still exists and you have access to it in Jira
- Try searching with different keywords if the issue title has changed
Issue updates aren't appearing in Jira
- Refresh your Jira board, as updates can take a moment to sync
- Check that your Jira account still has edit permissions for the issue
- Reconnect Jira from Integrations if the connection has expired
