Microsoft Planner

Connect Microsoft Planner to Quin to create, update, complete, and search tasks across your plans directly from your conversations with Quin.

Quin connects with Microsoft Planner so you can manage your tasks without leaving your workflow. Once connected, you can ask Quin to create tasks, update existing ones, mark them complete, or search across your plans and To Do lists by assignee, due date, bucket, or status.

Before you begin

You'll need an active Microsoft account with access to Microsoft Planner. If your organization uses Microsoft 365, Planner is typically included. Make sure you have the permissions needed to create and manage tasks in the plans you want Quin to access.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select Microsoft Planner from the list of available apps.
  3. Sign in with your Microsoft account and grant Quin permission to access your Planner data.
  4. Once connected, Quin will have access to your personal To Do lists and any team plans you're a member of.

What to expect

After connecting, you can ask Quin to manage tasks using natural language from the chat or via voice. Quin can create tasks in any of your available plans, assign them to team members, set due dates, and organize them into buckets within team plans. You can also ask Quin to search your tasks by plan, bucket, assignee, due date range, or completion status. When creating a task in a team plan, Quin will ask you which plan and bucket to use if you haven't specified — or use its best judgment based on context.

How it works

Quin supports the following actions in Microsoft Planner:

  • Create a task — Add a task to any personal or team plan, with optional due date, assignee, and bucket
  • Update a task — Change the title, due date, assignee, or other details of an existing task
  • Complete a task — Mark a task as done
  • Delete a task — Remove a task from a plan
  • Search tasks — Find tasks by plan, bucket, assignee, due date, or completion status

Personal To Do tasks and team Planner tasks are both supported. Buckets are only available in team plans, not personal task lists.

Troubleshooting

Quin can't find a specific plan or bucket

  • Confirm you're a member of the team plan in Microsoft Planner
  • Buckets only exist in team plans — personal To Do lists don't have buckets
  • Try specifying the plan name clearly in your message to Quin

Quin created the task in the wrong plan

  • Be specific when asking Quin to create a task — include the plan name and bucket if relevant
  • You can ask Quin to move or update the task after it's been created

Microsoft Planner isn't showing in the integrations list

  • Confirm your Microsoft account has access to Planner (available with Microsoft 365)
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Microsoft account from Settings > Integrations

Quin can't create tasks in a team plan

  • Check that your Microsoft account has edit permissions for that plan
  • Some team plans may be restricted by your organization's admin settings
