Microsoft Exchange

Connect Microsoft Exchange to Quin for email search, drafting, and calendar management. Quin syncs your inbox and calendar using your Exchange server credentials.

Connect your Microsoft Exchange mailbox and calendar to Quin so you can search email, draft and send messages, and manage your schedule directly through conversation with Quin. Exchange combines email and calendar in a single connection. Once connected, Quin can act on both without needing separate setup for each.

Before you begin

You need your Exchange server address, email address, username, password, and Exchange server version. Your IT admin can provide these if you don't already have them.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations and select Microsoft Exchange.
  2. Enter your Exchange Server address (for example, mail.company.com).
  3. Enter your Email address.
  4. Enter your Username (often the same as your email address).
  5. Enter your Password.
  6. Select your Exchange Version from the dropdown.
  7. Click Connect to finish setup.

LPL Financial users, use the following settings:

  • Exchange Server - lplmail.lpl.com
  • Email address - [your username]@web.lpl.com
  • Username - [your username]@web.lpl.com
  • Password - your Exchange password
  • Exchange Version - usually 2019, unless your IT admin tells you otherwise

If you're not sure which values to use or the connection won't go through, reach out to your IT admin for your server details and Exchange version.

What to expect

Once connected, Quin can search your Exchange inbox for specific emails, draft and send new messages, and organize your mailbox by managing folders, tags, flags, and read or unread status. Quin also detects your email signature automatically, so any drafts it creates match your existing sign-off. On the calendar side, Quin can look up events, check your availability or your team's availability, and create, update, or delete events on your behalf. You can ask Quin things like "What's on my calendar Thursday afternoon?" or "Find the email from Marcus about the contract" and get an answer right away.

Managing your mailbox with Guidelines

You can control how Quin organizes your Exchange mailbox through Guidelines. Guidelines are instructions that tell Quin how to handle your email and calendar, like "Always tag invoices with 'Billing'" or "Never schedule meetings before 9am." Guidelines help Quin manage your inbox and calendar the way you already work.

Troubleshooting

Quin can't connect to my Exchange account

  • Double check your Exchange Server address matches what your IT admin gave you
  • Confirm your username and password are correct and haven't recently changed
  • Make sure you selected the correct Exchange Version
  • LPL users should confirm the server is lplmail.lpl.com and the username and email both use the @web.lpl.com format
  • If the connection still fails, contact your IT admin to confirm your server details

Quin isn't finding emails I know exist

  • Try searching by sender name or email address instead of a keyword
  • Confirm the email isn't in an archived or unusual folder
  • Check that your Microsoft Exchange integration still shows as connected in Settings > Integrations

Calendar events aren't showing up

  • Confirm the event exists on the calendar connected to your Exchange account, not a different calendar
  • Check that Quin has permission to view your full calendar, not just free/busy status

Drafted emails don't look right

  • Confirm your signature is set up correctly in Exchange so Quin can detect it
  • Add a Guideline specifying your preferred tone or format for drafts

My Exchange Version selection doesn't match my server

  • Check with your IT admin for the correct version if you're unsure
  • Most modern Exchange servers, including LPL's, run on 2019
