Getting a deal status update without opening the CRM
May 13, 2026
"What's the status with TechStart?" comes up in a team channel, and normally that means someone stops what they're doing, opens the CRM, searches for the account, and relays the answer back to the thread a few minutes later. By the time the answer lands, the conversation has usually moved on to something else.
What normally happens when a status question lands in a channel
- Someone has to notice the question and volunteer to look into it.
- That person opens the CRM in a separate tab and searches for the right account.
- The answer gets typed back into Slack, translated from CRM fields into a sentence.
- Anyone who missed the original thread has no easy way to find the answer later.
- Whoever answered has now stepped away from whatever they were doing before the question came in.
How Quin handles it
Message Quin directly in the same channel thread, and it pulls the current status from the connected CRM and answers right there, without anyone opening a separate tool. The answer lands in the same conversation the question was asked in, visible to everyone already following the thread.
Say that TechStart question comes up during a team check-in. Messaging Quin "what's the status with TechStart" in that thread returns the current stage, the last logged activity, and anything else on the record, in the same place the question was asked, instead of someone reconstructing it from memory or a separate CRM tab.
Why this matters
A question asked in front of the whole team deserves an answer the whole team can see, not one relayed secondhand by whoever happened to check the CRM first. Answering in the same thread also means the next person who has the same question later can just scroll up and find it, rather than asking again. A single answer, visible once, replaces the same question getting asked and answered separately every time it comes up.
Getting the most out of it
- Ask Quin in the same thread as the original question, so the answer stays attached to the conversation.
- Name the account or contact specifically, the way you would searching a CRM directly.
- Confirm your CRM integration is connected, since status lookups depend on it.
- Use a direct message instead if the account details shouldn't be visible to the whole channel.
- Follow up with a task request in the same thread if the status check surfaces something that needs action.
Setting it up
Connect Slack under Settings, then Integrations, and add Quin to your team's workspace. From there, messaging Quin in any channel or direct message can pull a status update from your connected CRM.
